What Industries Are Using ChatGPT?

9 Mins read

To understand the widespread adoption of ChatGPT across different industries, we reached out to professionals from various sectors. From ChatGPT researching and drafting in law to all the AI applications that assist the tech industry, discover how 18 industry experts are leveraging ChatGPT to solve problems and enhance their businesses.

ChatGPT in Law: Research and Drafting

In my industry of law, lawyers are using ChatGPT in several ways to enhance their practice and streamline their work processes.

For legal research, ChatGPT can help lawyers conduct legal research more effectively as they can ask questions or provide prompts related to specific legal issues, and ChatGPT can offer relevant information, case summaries, legal precedents, and statutes. We can also use it for document drafting and review; by providing prompts or preliminary drafts, lawyers can also receive suggestions or edits from ChatGPT to refine and improve their legal documents.

Lastly, ChatGPT can answer frequently asked legal questions, provide basic explanations of legal concepts, offer initial assessments of potential legal issues, and also help schedule appointments, gather relevant client information, or direct clients to appropriate resources.

SEO Industry: Content and Research

SEO is an industry that has a heavy emphasis on content creation.

As such, it’s no surprise that the likes of ChatGPT have become a hot topic for SEO professionals.

The tool has multiple use cases:

  • Content creation: The obvious solution. SEO requires content, good content. ChatGPT is helping SEOs brief and create large amounts of copy. This still needs to be manually edited, but the initial heavy lifting can be done by ChatGPT.
  • Data filtering: SEO also requires a large amount of data filtering and data stitching to pull out insightful information. ChatGPT can quickly categorize, filter, and table data sets. This is a big-time saver!
  • Keyword research: ChatGPT can also conduct keyword research. The tool is excellent at generating lists of related keywords and topics. From here, SEOs can refine this data and validate it against real search volumes and results. This is again a big time saver.

So, in general, ChatGPT is helping SEOs scale their output.

Content Writing: Speed and Efficiency

In the content writing industry, we’re using ChatGPT to speed up the time it takes to write articles.

ChatGPT does a good job at generating short forms of content such as headlines, blog introductions, SEO meta descriptions, and article outlines. Although the output isn’t 100% accurate, after a few edits, it’s usually ready to publish.

ChatGPT also streamlines my research process as I can ask the AI questions and it’ll summarize the main points I need to add to my article.

When I write an article without the help of ChatGPT, it takes around four hours. But when I use ChatGPT, I can cut this time down to three or even two hours.

Online Tutoring: Personalized Learning

As an online tutoring company, we use ChatGPT because it is a powerful tool that allows us to provide personalized and interactive learning experiences to our students. We can use ChatGPT to create a virtual tutor to converse with students naturally and engagingly.

Another benefit of using ChatGPT is its ability to provide instant feedback and support to our students. With ChatGPT, students can receive immediate feedback on their work and get help with difficult concepts in real-time. This not only helps students to learn more effectively, but it also helps to build their confidence and motivation.

Using ChatGPT to simulate a conversation between a student and a teacher or tutor, students can receive instant feedback and guidance on their learning journey. ChatGPT can also adapt to the student’s learning style and pace, providing a tailored learning experience that is both engaging and effective.

Travel Industry: Service and Personalization

Within the travel industry, ChatGPT is being used in several ways, and the main ones are customer service, personalization, and translation.

Travel companies can utilize ChatGPT to provide customers with automated responses to common questions, such as flight information, baggage allowances, and travel restrictions.

ChatGPT can create personalized travel recommendations based on customers’ preferences and past travel history. By analyzing data on customers’ travel behavior and preferences, ChatGPT can generate customized itineraries that meet needs and interests.

ChatGPT can also provide real-time translation of customer inquiries, making it easier for travel companies to help customers who speak different languages.

Overall, ChatGPT’s natural language processing capabilities make it a valuable tool for the travel industry, helping companies streamline operations, personalize customer experiences, and improve communication with customers.

Smart HVAC: Technical Support

ChatGPT is being used within my industry (smart heating and air conditioning) in several ways and is definitely a useful tool.

It can help provide technical information about HVAC systems, equipment, components, and related concepts and explain the principles of operation, different types of systems, energy efficiency considerations, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices in the field.

Additionally, it can help with diagnosing and resolving issues with heating and cooling systems, offer equipment selection recommendations, provide information on energy efficacy and sustainability, offer information about new technology and trends, maintenance and preventive care, and regular compliance and standards.

Entrepreneurship: Support and Research

In the entrepreneurship industry, ChatGPT is generally used as a personal, virtual assistant for many entrepreneurs. There are three major ways it’s being used: for customer support, content creation, and market research.

It can handle customer support queries and respond to client questions quickly. Entrepreneurs commonly utilize it as an AI-powered chatbot to quickly answer client questions and provide useful resources.

Many also used ChatGPT to generate material for their websites, social media accounts, and marketing efforts. ChatGPT can create content ideas, recommend keywords and phrases, and even produce full articles or social media postings. This allows businesses to save time and concentrate on other parts of their business.

Lastly, it’s also used to analyze data and provide insights into industry trends and client preferences. This helps in making business decisions, such as deciding which items or services to provide or how to change marketing efforts.

FinTech: Customer Experience Enhancement

As competition heats up for FinTech offering similar services, AI-powered ChatGPT is the new way to acquire and retain clients.

As in other eCommerce sectors, delivering personalized customer experiences is now the name of the game for FinTech. Because of this, many are implementing chatbots to power communications and understand the customer experience. Doing so allows teams to use advanced sentiment analysis to spot gaps and train chatbots to solve them.

And because Chat works 24/7, consumers can hold conversations via text or buttons. From resetting their password to opening up a line of credit, fintech chatbots provide companies with a simple and seamless way to set the bar higher.

Plastic Surgeon: Blog Topic Generation

As a plastic surgeon, I was one of the early adopters of ChatGPT. My background in computer science pushed me toward this new technology.

I use ChatGPT to develop a list of semantically similar topics related to common plastic surgery topics, which I pick to write informative blogs about and post on my website. The topics can range from common questions about a procedure to general advice.

Being a plastic surgeon for over two decades, I understand what questions patients typically ask, and I have observed that ChatGPT is very effective in its suggestions. The process has now become more streamlined and productive using ChatGPT.

Podcast Industry: Script Creation

The script and content are undeniably the foundations of any podcast. Because of how pivotal they are, they can also be just as time-consuming. ChatGPT has been a big help in this area. With nuanced and accurate cues, it’s able to craft a script that has all the elements we want to include.

This piece of first-level content takes hours to craft, and with ChatGPT, we can do it in a fraction of that time. With this content ready, our creative minds can focus on other aspects of the process and fine-tune our episodes even further.

Marketing: Social Media Automation

One common way ChatGPT is being used in the marketing industry is through automation for social media. ChatGPT can help businesses create content that is relevant and engaging for their audience by generating automated social media posts, captions, and comments.

This not only saves time but also helps businesses maintain a consistent social media presence. By using ChatGPT for social media automation, businesses can focus on other important aspects of their marketing strategy, such as analyzing their social media performance and optimizing their campaigns.

Additionally, ChatGPT can help businesses personalize their social media communication with customers, by generating responses to customer inquiries and comments. ChatGPT is helping businesses enhance their social media presence and engagement, while also streamlining their marketing operations.

SaaS: Customer Support and Automation

I’m in the SaaS industry, and yes, ChatGPT is widely used in my industry. Traditional methods of customer support and IT services have become obsolete, and ChatGPT has taken over its primary function. It helps to provide quick, reliable service to customers around the clock, leading to increased customer satisfaction and improved retention rates.

In addition, ChatGPT provides automated solutions for many common workflows or tasks, allowing businesses to reduce costs by decreasing the number of personnel required for certain processes.

For example, we can set up automatic response systems that expect and answer general inquiries from website visitors as soon as they arrive on a website. This saves considerable time and money that would typically be spent fielding calls or emails from customers asking questions about products or services.

Digital Marketing: Content and Coding

Being in the digital marketing industry requires assembling a lot of moving parts. And ChatGPT is really a blessing in terms of lending a helping hand to us.

We mostly use ChatGPT to drill down on content ideas for blogs or product pages. That’s not all; we even ask it to provide us with an HTML code to add specific sections on the blog pages like CTA buttons, jump texts, and sections with special offers that pop up upon scrolling through it.

We even use it to create robots.txt files, generate schema codes, and organize information in tables and charts.

Consulting: Editing and Translation

ChatGPT is a great support in the business consulting industry.

One of the main applications of AI tools, such as ChatGPT, is rapid text editing. Consultants often need to develop a variety of materials, such as reports, analyses, or presentations, where the content needs to be clear and precise. With AI support, consultants can focus on creating valuable content while ChatGPT takes care of editing and proofreading.

In addition, AI allows texts to be translated instantly, which is invaluable when working with clients around the world. Translations become more precise, and consultants no longer need to rely on external services or translation agencies.

As a result, AI tools contribute to the efficiency of consultants, allowing them to better manage their time and focus on the most important aspects of their work. In an environment of chasing deadlines, technologies such as ChatGPT are not only useful but essential to ensure competitiveness and success in the consulting market.

Cybersecurity: Chatbots and Detection

Chatbots and conversational agents based on GPT models like ChatGPT are being increasingly utilized in the cybersecurity world. Some applications include Security Chatbots and Fraud Detection.

The Security Chatbots built using GPT models can help in detecting as well as responding to security threats in real time. They can interact with users while providing assistance with security threats.

GPT usage in Fraud Detection can help analyze and detect fraudulent activities such as phishing and identity thefts. The way they work is that they learn from previous incidents and adapt to prevent future attacks.

Skincare: Virtual Experiences and AI

The skincare industry uses ChatGPT to create virtual makeup try-on experiences. Customers upload a photo of themselves and virtually try on different makeup products. This empowers customers to experiment with products and shades without having to physically try them on, which can be particularly useful when taking precautions from the COVID-19 pandemic.

AI also creates interactive skincare quizzes to help customers determine their skin type and identify the most effective products for their needs. Brands can use these quizzes on their websites or social media channels to provide personalized recommendations based on the customer’s responses.

We patented AI technology we have used for years to analyze customers’ facial and hair features and to recommend personalized treatments based on that collected information. Since we started using AI as a strategy for brand differentiation, many skincare brands are jumping on the AI bandwagon to increase efficiency and personalization efforts.

Guna Kakulapati, Co-founder and CEO, CureSkin

Web Development: Coding and Chatbots

ChatGPT is undoubtedly one of the most exciting developments within the web development industry. In fact, I would go so far as to say, ChatGPT has perhaps completely revolutionized this particular industry.

In our industry, we’ve already begun utilizing ChatGPT in numerous ways. For one, it has tremendously helped us improve our coding capabilities; the AI is capable of building code blocks faster while reducing resource costs. This helps us allocate resources far more efficiently, with ChatGPT handling the basic coding while the developers are tasked with the more complex tasks.

Another popular application of ChatGPT is in customer service chatbots. It can automate responses to frequently asked questions, provide personalized recommendations to users, remember previous conversations, and improve customer satisfaction by learning their browsing patterns.

Richard Kennedy, Managing Director, Arken Digital

Tech Industry: AI Applications

Oh yes, the tech industry is all about AI now. There is AI in everything now, as far as I have known. The tech industry has found numerous uses for ChatGPT, from data analysis to administrative support.

There will be no going back to the old ways of doing things in the computer business now that everything is being automated thanks to ChatGPT. Its meteoric rise, on the other hand, is not at all unexpected.

Without getting into the philosophical and ethical arguments, it is clear that the AI-powered tool has limitless potential for competitive businesses. And since the chatbot can react to any human command, the only limitation is your own creativity.
